Wisdom is calling! Understanding is raising her voice! On the heights along the road, where the paths meet, she is standing; by the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:
Mishlei (Pro) 8:1-3 CJB

My meditation today has been wisdom. The book of proverbs personifies wisdom as a woman and puts her at the beginning of great things. The fear of G-d is the beginning of wisdom..Proverbs 9:10. Wisdom is said to be at the fork in the road leading to the city gates or “paths” that one can take. Along with her being at these places she is available to everyone.
“ Adonai made me as the beginning of his way, the first of his ancient works.
Mishlei (Pro) 8:22 CJB
I think of Wisdom as the Eve for G-d as he created to be united with Him as He created everything while still being the Trinity.
When he established the heavens, I was there. When he drew the horizon’s circle on the deep…
Mishlei (Pro) 8:27 CJB
Not as a literal spouse of G-d but a quality He has been very intimate with since the beginning that led to the birth of all creation. The reality that G-d created Wisdom is one reason we reverence Him understanding the depth of wisdom and to know that it was created in the beginning while we try to acquire it in a short lifespan.
I was with him as someone he could trust. For me, every day was pure delight, as I played in his presence all the time,.
Mishlei (Pro) 8:30 CJB
Wisdom has been a part of everything G-d has brought forth. She is readily available to all who are hearing her call. She is mentioned as the woman at the street corner calling out with invitation to everyone showing the impartiality of G-d and loving-kindness of His character to dispense such honor to those who seek it. Commonly versed as a woman ready to be a bride signifies the fecundity of wisdom and how rewarding it truly is.
I love those who love me; and those who seek me will find me. Riches and honor are with me, lasting wealth and righteousness.
Mishlei (Pro) 8:17-18 CJB
If obtaining wisdom is greater than gold And silver than the rewards (wealth) could be intangible qualities of G-d [insight, knowledge, discipline]. And when the verse speaks about “understanding raises her voice” I first thought it could be a different entity or quality but it’s the hearer’s understanding that makes the sound of wisdom more audible ( raising the volume of her call) realizing and inclining out of need of her.
In a far off perception I think of Wisdom as the mother and G-d as the Father when the verses speak about warning the reader to not turn from their words but yet wear them as precious accessories having a life adorned by the discipline of wisdom.
My son, heed the discipline of your father, and do not abandon the teaching of your mother; they will be a garland to grace your head, a medal of honor for your neck.
Mishlei (Pro) 1:8-9 CJB
The book of proverbs introduces us to Wisdom as the newborn is introduced to the mother. The first couple of chapters in proverbs are like breast milk giving the vital nutrients to equip the babe for the world.
My son, if you will receive my words and store my commands inside you, paying attention to wisdom inclining your mind toward understanding — yes, if you will call for insight and raise your voice for discernment, if you seek it as you would silver and search for it as for hidden treasure — then you will understand the fear of Adonai and find knowledge of God.
Mishlei (Pro) 2:1-5 CJB
In short, Wisdom is fruitful. An intimate quality and creation of G-d.
Wisdom isn’t the only woman out there. Another one is mentioned and is commonly referred to as the foolish one. She sits out at the paths just as Wisdom and calls out the same way but with a different language.
The foolish woman is coarse; she doesn’t think, and she doesn’t know a thing. She sits at the door of her house or on a seat at the heights of the city, calling to those who pass by, to those going straight along their ways, “Whoever is unsure of himself, turn in here!” To someone weak-willed she says, “Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is pleasant.”
Mishlei (Pro) 9:13-17 CJB
Being referenced as a woman it is true that the foolishness can birth other qualities.
Wisdom is said to have daughters…
She has sent out her young girls [with invitations]; she calls from the heights of the city, Mishlei (Pro) 9:3 CJB
The young girls could be humility, love, kindness, discipline, charity, understanding and so forth given that these qualities are able to reproduce into others. In another way the daughters (qualities) are what leads us to Wisdom. And upon acquiring Wisdom we are able to feast on the blessings of attaining her.
There is also another type of wisdom that isn’t of G-d but an evil replica.
This wisdom is not the kind that comes down from above; on the contrary, it is worldly, unspiritual, demonic.
Ya’akov (Jas) 3:15 CJB
In a way godly wisdom is a gift to be obtained and not acquired on our own accord or through our own achievement.
Could godly wisdom be evidence of a submissive life to G-d?
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him.
Ya’akov (Jas) 1:5 CJB
Could this be the hearer who with understanding hears the call of Wisdom? And upon hearing the call, one seeks Wisdom and is urged to obtain more.
The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom! And along with all your getting, get insight!
Mishlei (Pro) 4:7 CJB
But the wisdom from above is, first of all, pure, then peaceful, kind, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Ya’akov (Jas) 3:17 CJB
Putting the qualities in this category of sexes broadens the perception and deepens the insight of the majesty of G-d.
