Understanding the fear of G-d is deeper than I first thought. I recently reflected on Wisdom and the fear of G-d sparked in my mind when the verse mentions that Wisdom was created. The infinite capacity of G-d wisdom is far beyond our comprehension.
“Where were you when I founded the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Iyov (Job) 38:4 CJB
The distance between G-d and us is far in relation to His capabilities yet close in relation to His grace and mercy. The fear of G-d is us stepping down from any pedestal or mindset we’ve puffed ourselves up to and come behind the guidance of G-d’s words, mitzvahs, Torah, promises, etc.
The fear of Adonai is clean, enduring forever. The rulings of Adonai are true, they are righteous altogether,
Tehillim (Psa) 19:10 CJB
Even though we are cleansed through faith we take on a lesser appearance fitting for someone that’s always in need of help, cleansing and provision. Following Christ example as He took on the role of a slave/servant instead of just being equal with G-d we do the same in regards of our right standing and remain lesser/lower in a sense.
The fear of Adonai is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Mishlei (Pro) 1:7 CJB
The fear of Adonai is a fountain of life enabling one to avoid deadly traps.
Mishlei (Pro) 14:27 CJB
The reward for humility is fear of Adonai , along with wealth, honor and life.
Mishlei (Pro) 22:4 CJB
The discipline of wisdom is fear of Adonai , so before being honored, a person must be humble.
Mishlei (Pro) 15:33 CJB
Blessed are you, Adonai ! Teach me your laws. I proclaim with my mouth all the rulings you have spoken.
Tehillim (Psa) 119:12-13 CJB
I think about the tree of Life being G-d’s very Word, Laws, Mitzvahs, Torah, etc that are daily necessities for the well-being of our inner conditions. We can take from His Word or eat what He forbids disregarding His Word and not disciplined by wisdom and understanding.
My decree is: ‘You are elohim [gods, judges], sons of the Most High all of you.
Tehillim (Psa) 82:6 CJB
I believe it can be read two different ways…1) You are gods 2) you are God’s. The fear of Adonai is submission to His will, direction and provision though we are His we are aware that we have been clothed in a sinful nature (skin, flesh, natural bodies) that are subject to weaknesses He never experiences. In a way we can boast in one thing( being God’s) but humbling ourselves and acknowledge our finite nature is what the fear of Adonai seem to be about as well.
…. Let the nations know they are only human. (Selah)
Tehillim (Psa) 9:21 CJB
I will meditate on your precepts and keep my eyes on your ways. I will find my delight in your regulations. I will not forget your word.
Tehillim (Psa) 119:15-16 CJB
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wonders.
Tehillim (Psa) 119:27 CJB
The wonders are in the everyday things we see but cannot explain without learning and studying yet G-d in His infinite capacity brought them into existence with a set of regulations and set time of longevity with only His Word…the fear of G-d is submitting the direction of our livelihood to the wisdom of such a great G-d.
For ever since the creation of the universe his invisible qualities — both his eternal power and his divine nature — have been clearly seen, because they can be understood from what he has made.
Romans (Rom) 1:20 CJB
I will lift my hands to your mitzvot , which I love; and I will meditate on your laws.
Tehillim (Psa) 119:48 CJB
Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, so I can learn your mitzvot .
Tehillim (Psa) 119:73 CJB
Ps. 119 Sums up or gives insight to understanding what the fear of G-d is. Interesting facts Ps. 119:
It includes the Alephbet allotted 8 verses each. ( The letters of the language introducing the world to the Creator and Sustainer of everything are commonly versed by the author saying in various ways ” I want to learn Your ways” “Teach me Your Ways” “Your ways are best for me”.
In short, we’re fragile yet strong
and said, “Yes! I tell you that unless you change and become like little children, you won’t even enter the Kingdom of Heaven!
Mattityahu (Mat) 18:3 CJB
I also believe the fear of Adonai is taking on the humility of a child. The way of a child is what G-d wants from us: ready to learn, ready to forgive, able to discipline, innocent of pride. Taking on the humility of a child makes building a relationship possible given through history G-d has always referred to His believers as children (rather of His or a nation). Could this be a step towards worshipping Him in Spirit and Truth?
God is spirit; and worshippers must worship him spiritually and truly.”
Yochanan (Jhn) 4:24 CJB
As the fear of Adonai is the beginning of Wisdom….is becoming as a child the beginning of worshipping in Spirit & Truth?
Ps. 119
22 Alephbet 8 verses per Alephbet
Equals 176 (1+7+6) = 5 Grace
1= Unity (G-d as One)
7= Completion (Completion)
6= Man (Man)
Could Ps 119 (fear of G-d) be the connection between G-d and Man in that it is the dialogue of creation submitting to G-d’s ways and rulings completing the union that exemplifies what the fear of G-d is in action.
Adonai said to Moshe, “Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Here is what Adonai says: “Let my people go, so that they can worship me.
Sh’mot (Exo) 7:26 CJB
‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from me.
Mattityahu (Mat) 15:8 CJB
in my anger, I swore that they would not enter my rest.”
Messianic Jews (Heb) 3:11 CJB
I believe the migration in the desert would’ve went more favorably if the Israelites were complaining less and led on self-will and submit to the provision and ways G-d set out for them.
